Not strictly the kind of beat scene we�ve been repping to date and not particularly new out, but this just deserves a mention. 3 years in the making produced Symmetry�s (Italians Do It Better) album entitled �Themes For An Imaginary Film� and does exactly what it says on the tin.
What this album does so beautifully is create a beat scape that completely engulfs you in this epic 36 track album. The most enjoyable thing about the album is that you are able to create your own story throughout, although you will likely depict something very similar to �Drive�.
From the deep sweeping synths a la Bladerunner to the melancholic whirs of the electric organ this will take you on quite an interesting journey. The album eases you in gently with melancholic whirs and ambience with the occasional Kavinsky inspired bounce, however, as the album progresses deep sweeping synths create a sense of anxiety and urgency, a feel of an impending threat. The closing few tracks ease you back into a reflective state with generally beatless music before letting the credits roll to a haunting vocal track.
There�s not a lot more I can say on this without ruining it for yourselves. Buy it, headphones on, eyes down, enjoy.
